1. Store Fertilizer and Lawn Products Out of Reach:

Seal fertilizer and other lawn care products securely and store them away from your pets' access. Ingesting these substances could lead to stomach upset or more severe symptoms. If ingestion occurs, contact your veterinarian or a pet poison hotline immediately for guidance.

2. Keep Up With Flea and Tick Preventatives:

Ensure your pet is current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention medications. Discuss with your veterinarian to choose the right medication based on your pet's location, health status, and ease of application.

3. Vaccinated Against Lyme Disease:

In regions with high tick prevalence and Lyme disease risk, consider vaccinating your pet against Lyme disease. Research the prevalence of ticks in your area using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's tick surveillance maps.

4. Keep Lilies Away From Cats:

The entire lily plant is toxic to cats and can cause severe health issues, including kidney failure and death. Avoid keeping lilies in your home or garden, especially if you have cats prone to chewing plants.

5. Know Your Outdoor Plants:

Be aware of outdoor plants and trees toxic to pets while landscaping and gardening. Check for plants such as Japanese yew trees and bulbs of daffodils and tulips, which can cause various health issues if ingested.
